Information

The Location

Our holiday home, Trelawney, is located in the Towan Valley, situated in a secluded, sheltered position on the eastern cliffs of Porthtowan. The beautiful seaside village of Porthtowan is approximately 8 miles to the north of the Cathedral City of Truro and 4 miles southwest from the pretty village of St. Agnes.

The surfing paradise of Porthtowan beach is only a short walk away, and it is one of only eight Blue Flag beaches in Cornwall and a Seaside Award winning beach. Porthtowan lives up to its name – it literally means sand dune cove in Cornish! (‘Porth’ means ‘cove, bay, port or harbour’ and ‘towan’ means ‘sand dune’)

The coastal hotspots of St Ives, Perranporth, Newquay and Falmouth are easily accessible. Further afield are Sennen, Penzance, Land’s End, St. Austell, Padstow etc…, all of which are within an hours drive!

Why not have a sneaky peak at what is happening on the Porthtowan beach today via the Surfline webcams!

Discover

Porthtowan Beach

The beautiful Porthtowan Beach is just a short stroll down the hill. At low tide you can walk left to Lushington Cove and the Tobban Horse rocks (in the south-west) or right to Chapel Porth (the north-east).

At a very low tide you can walk the 3kms from Lushingon Cove to Chapel Porth, but please check the tides before attempting this!

      We Have Availability!

We still have some spaces, but mainly for the quiet, out of season dates that allow you to explore Cornwall without the crowds. September to May is the best time to visit Trelawney in our opinion!
