10 Reasons to stay at Trelawney, Porthtowan this Winter

Are you thinking about a winter holiday in Cornwall, but not sure if winter is the best time to go? While summer may be the most popular season for tourists, there are many reasons why you should consider visiting this beautiful county in southwest England during the wintertime. Here are 12 reasons to convince you to visit this winter:

1. Beautiful Scenery

Cornwall’s stunning coastline and countryside look even more magical in the winter, with frosty fields and empty beaches. It’s a photographer’s dream!

2. Avoid the Crowds

One of the biggest perks of visiting Cornwall in the winter is avoiding the crowds that flock to this popular tourist destination during peak season. You can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation without the hustle and bustle of summer tourists.

3. Cheaper Accommodation

As tourism slows down during the winter, accommodation prices in Cornwall tend to drop significantly. This means you can find a great deal on Trelawney this winter.

4. Winter Activities

While many people think of beach activities when they think of Cornwall, there are plenty of winter activities to enjoy as well. From ice skating at the Eden Project to hiking along the coast, you’ll never run out of things to do.

5. Food and Drink

Cornwall is famous for its locally sourced and delicious food, and winter is the perfect time to indulge in hearty meals like Cornish pasties, fish and chips and traditional roast dinners. You can also warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled cider at one of the many cozy cafes.

6. Wildlife

Winter is a great time to spot wildlife in Cornwall, whether it’s seals basking on the beach or rare birds flying overhead. You can also take boat trips to see dolphins and even whales if you’re lucky.

7. Storm Watching

Cornwall’s rugged coastline is known for its dramatic storms during the winter months. It may sound scary, but watching the crashing waves is a thrilling experience and there are plenty of safe vantage points to do so.

8. Peace and Quiet

With fewer tourists visiting Cornwall in the winter, you can enjoy a more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. It’s the perfect time to take long walks on deserted beaches or cozy up by a fireplace with a good book.

9. Winter Gardens

Despite the colder weather, Cornwall’s gardens are still full of life in the winter. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project both have winter events and attractions to enjoy.

10. Surfing

Believe it or not, winter is actually the best time for surfing in Cornwall. The waves are bigger and the beaches less crowded, making it a paradise for surfers of all levels.
